Novar (Sleeps 4) This property is the upper part of a 120 year old stone house close to the centre of Aberfeldy in Home Street. In 1861 a few philanthropic Aberfeldy ladies formed themselves into a society for visiting the sick and poor, providing a soup kitchen and a "Home for the Sick". The then affluent owner of nearby Killiechassie House, now JK Rowling's residence, offered the ladies Novar to provide medical treatment to their patients. This original use of the building as a local hospital or "Home" gave the street its name.
Novar is a traditional Victorian stone built Scottish villa, the upper floor of which has been sensitively and comprehensively renovated to create a warm and welcoming apartment. The property is entered via is own front door to first floor level where you are immediately struck by its light and spacious interior where a creative touch has ensured that the house has been thoroughly modernised yet has retained its former charm and original features. The apartment has its own drive and a sunny, landscaped, rear garden and patio area with garden furniture by a lovely silver birch tree. There is secure on-site parking for up to three cars.
The apartment has a spacious lounge which has been tastefully furnished with contemporary curtains and fabrics with pine furniture and a cottage suite. There is a colour TV, radio/CD player and the original pine mantle fireplace with flame effect gas fire providing a warm welcome. The new lemon coloured kitchen with its integral dining area has been well designed with matching wall units and marble floor tiles. This bright modern fully fitted kitchen has a gas hob, twin ovens, dishwasher, microwave, washing machine and fridge.
Novar offers two large double bedrooms. The main bedroom has a king-size bed and the other has two single beds. The bedrooms both have cottage pine wardrobes and dressing tables. There is one bathroom, in white, with a whirlpool bath and over-bath shower. The cottage has double-glazing throughout and central heating in every room. Payment for fuel is by meter reading at standard rates.
Home Street is a quiet street leading from the main street running through Aberfeldy. Novar is some 100 yards from the main street and the shops, pubs and restaurants in the town. The golf course, parks, putting green, riverside and woodland walks are all within easy walking distance.
