ABERFELDY

Aberfeldy is situated on Scotland's longest river, the River Tay in highland Perthshire. It grew up around Wade's Bridge, the first bridge built across the Upper River Tay in 1733 by the English general who subjugated the highlands after Bonnie Prince Charlie's rebellion in 1745. Famous for the 'Birks of Aberfeldy', a poem by Robert Burns in memory of the beautiful Falls of Moness, it’s one of Scotland's best-known holiday towns.

Today, visitors watch tasty Scottish delicacies being produced at Breadalbane Bakery, visit Dewar's World of Whisky, a working distillery now housing a modern, high tech interactive whisky presentation - and enjoy sensational outdoor pursuits of all kinds from outstanding walking, fishing, golfing - to white water rafting, canyoning and abseiling.

Visit the stunning natural beauty of Loch Tay; the conservation village of Kenmore; the unique iron age Scottish Crannog Centre; Perthshire's highest mountain Ben Lawers at 3,984 feet; and Glenlyon "the longest and loveliest glen in Scotland". Or the 16th Century Castle Menzies, and Fortingall, a village where legend has it Pontious Pilate, who ordered the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, was born - and also home to the Fortingall Yew, a tree between 3,000 - 5,000 years old believed to be the oldest living thing in Europe.

But it is the stunning activity and adventure playground which surrounds us here that brings most modern leisure travellers here now. People with a love for the great outdoors, experiences and thrills, fun and challenge, or just gentle exercise, soothing relaxation and self enrichment.

Recently built in Scottish traditional style, this charming, homely black and white holiday cottage with wonderful country and mountain views is only 150 yards from the heart of Aberfeldy, yet its mature garden setting provides peace and perfect tranquility. Tastefully furnished with designer fabrics to a very high standard, Appletree has a Victorian conservatory that overlooks Weem Rock.

Laurelbank is a large traditional stone-built Scottish cottage majestically positioned at the centre of a large mature garden. The house is surrounded by a lawn and made totally secure by perimeter dry-stone walling. The well-stocked garden is a permanent blaze of colour during the summer and provides a ready haven for a multitude of songbirds.

Has been designed with a view to spoiling you with its large genuine Jacuzzi bath, steam cubicle and infra red sauna. It is situated right next to Appletree Cottage only a short walk from the centre of Aberfeldy via a lane which runs past the old water mill. Newly built in traditional Scottish style and finished in black and white, Lavender Cottage has splendid open views of the hills and surrounding countryside from every room. Both the house and the secure garden offer absolute quietness and privacy.

This spacious accommodation and charming cottage has been imaginatively designed internally and is set peacefully next to Lavender Cottage only 150 yards from the shops, pubs and restaurants in the heart of the unspoilt market town of Aberfeldy. Each room has been furnished to a very high standard and they all offer excellent views of the hills and countryside of Highland Perthshire.

Built into the hillside to take advantage of stunning views up the Tay valley to Ben Lawers and Schiehallion, this unique architect designed detached holiday home enjoys a country lane setting of utter peace and seclusion, adjacent to the Birks of Aberfeldy, yet is walking distance through this woodland glade to the heart of the delightful Highland market town of Aberfeldy.

Is a traditional Victorian stone built Scottish villa, the upper floor of which has been sensitively and comprehensively renovated to create a warm and welcoming apartment. The property is entered via is own front door to first floor level where you are immediately struck by its light and spacious interior where a creative touch has ensured that the house has been thoroughly modernised yet has retained its former charm and original features.

Is situated on Taybridge Road in Aberfeldy, a street of large stone-built Victorian houses, leading to one of the most romantic bridges in Scotland which Wade built over the Tay in 1733.
